House of Mechanical and Technical School

вул. Університетська, 64, Запоріжжя

In 1900, an incredibly beautiful building was erected. It housed a school for boys aged 10 to 14 years old. The teachers were graduates of the country's leading universities and academies.

In 1913, the school was renamed to “Oleksandrivsk named of Emperor Mykola Oleksandrovych Mechanical and Technical School with a Lower Trade School”. Later, in 1920, the school was reorganized into an industrial technical school. In 1930, it became an institute of agricultural engineering, and in 1944, it became the Zaporizhzhia Automobile and Mechanical Institute.

During World War II, the building suffered significant damage. Restoration work was carried out in the 1950s. During this time, the architectural style of the main and two side street buildings was changed. However, the character of the original architectural style was preserved in the central recreational courtyard areas.

Today, the institution is called the “National Technical University 'Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic'”. In 2020, the university received national status.
