Fountain of Life

пл. Маяковського, Запоріжжя

One of the most beautiful and unique fountains in Ukraine. The composition of the fountain consists of a rotating sphere and several figures at its base. The fountain was designed by sculptor Petro Antyp, and officially opened on October 14, 2004.

The sphere at the center of the fountain is surrounded by 8 statues (compositions) that represent the culture, history, and lifestyle of the Ukrainian people. The main composition in the structure of the sphere is Chernobyl, which pays tribute to the bravery of the liquidators who lost their lives while dealing with the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster.

Cossack Mamay symbolizes the free and independent spirit of the Zaporozhian Cossacks and all Ukrainians. The Chumaks represent the tireless travelers of the Tavria steppes, the Berehynia represents the preservation of life, the Scythians represent the ancient people of the Zaporozhian region. The Hunter is a symbol of the inseparable coexistence of humans and nature, the stone mounds represent the first human writing, and the steppe represents the richness of Ukrainian land.

Cultural events, dance performances, and musical shows are often held near the "Fountain of Life." It is one of the favorite places for relaxation for the city's residents and visitors.
