The island of Khortytsia divides the Dnipro River into two channels: the Old and New Dnipro. There is a hypothesis that this happened due to a geological fault over 2 million years ago.
Baida Islandis located on the Old Dnipro and is known for its ancient history. Settlements from the Bronze Age have been found here.
In the channel of the Old Dnipro, there was an ancient ferry near Naumova Balka, which was likely well known to the Scythians. Materials from the Scythian era are fixed here in the form of clusters of amphoras and pottery. These are ancient amphoras of the Heracleian, Chersonese, and Chian production from the 5th to 3rd centuries BC, Scythian pottery vessels, and bronze arrowheads from the 7th to 6th centuries BC. This place became a real treasure trove for archaeological research at the time.
