Zmiyeva (Snake) Caveis the largest cave on the entire Khortytsia Island. It is 5 meters high and over 4 meters deep. It is located in the northern part of the island under a rock called "Verhnia Holova" ("Upper Head").
According to legend, a huge Snake lived in the cave, which flew out of the cave every night during the times of the Cossacks, illuminating the Dnipro with bright light. Thanks to this legend, the cave received its name. In 1879, flint chips, fragments of pottery, and several animal bones were found in it, and earlier - a saddle, cloth, and weapons from the Cossack times.
Getting into the cave is not easy, as the rock in which it is located is very steep. Descending the rock without special equipment and serious mountaineering training is impossible.
